Text to Barcode Image

Create barcode, QR Code, Data Matrix, PDF417, and Aztec images from text without uploading it.

Input is processed in your browser and is not uploaded.

Use this text to barcode image generator when you need a quick barcode, QR Code, or 2D code for labels, test data, URLs, inventory examples, or developer documentation. The image is generated in your browser, and the input text is not stored by Textbun. Lightweight, mobile-friendly, and built for quick repeat use.

Create test barcodes and 2D codes with the right format choice

Barcodes are not one format. Retail codes, warehouse labels, QR links, Data Matrix marks, and PDF417 blocks all have different input rules and scanning expectations. This generator helps create quick browser-rendered images for test labels, documentation, demos, and local workflows without uploading the text.

Label and inventory tests

Generate Code 128, Code 39, EAN, UPC, ITF, and related one-dimensional barcodes for mock labels and scanner checks.

QR and 2D codes

Use QR Code, Data Matrix, PDF417, MicroPDF417, or Aztec when the data is longer, contains URLs, or includes non-Latin text.

Design handoff

Export PNG or SVG examples for tickets, documentation, print checks, and developer handoff without involving a backend service.

Choose the barcode type first

  1. 1Start with the scanner or business rule that will read the code.
  2. 2Use numeric-only formats only when the input length and check digit rules match.
  3. 3Pick QR Code or another 2D format for URLs, Korean or Japanese text, and longer payloads.
  4. 4Test the exported image with the actual scanner or camera before printing labels.

Format choice example

Input: https://textbun.com/en/tools/barcode-generator
Need: phone camera scan
Recommended type: QR Code
Reason: URL-friendly, compact, and widely supported by phone cameras.

A one-dimensional retail barcode would be the wrong format for this URL.

Scanning quality checks

  • EAN and UPC formats require numeric input with specific lengths.
  • Low contrast, tiny margins, and heavy resizing can make a valid barcode hard to scan.
  • A generated test image should be verified with the device and print size you plan to use.

FAQ

Which barcode types are supported?+

The tool supports Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, ITF-14, Codabar, GS1-128, QR Code, Data Matrix, PDF417, MicroPDF417, and Aztec.

Is my barcode text uploaded?+

No. Barcode rendering runs in your browser. Textbun stores only the last selected tab and type as a local preference.

Why does EAN or UPC input show an error?+

EAN, UPC, and ITF barcodes require numeric input with specific lengths. For URLs, Korean or Japanese text, or long strings, QR Code is usually a better choice.
